Recap of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 5 Episode Dancing Queen
After seven seasons of pure unadulterated and glorious melodrama, the Freeform formerly ABC Family series finally came to an end last June, leaving fans with some kind of closure even if it wasn’t everything one hoped. Still, there are some things that aren’t as well known about its young cast, as well as some things that didn’t quite hit right with fans, so we’re here to shed some light. Sasha Pieterse was a mere years-old when she landed the role of Alison DiLaurentis, the mysterious Rosewood teen who could slay with her biting words.
The South African’s beauty, poise and maturity certainly showed in an early audition tape, which took place right before she got the Pretty Little Liars job it was for The Beaver, a part that eventually went to Jennifer Lawrence. Clearly, Pieterse has some acting chops, but it’s hard to believe she was that young when she made the pilot for the hit show. Pieterse actually first auditioned to play Hanna, which as we know eventually went to Ashley Benson.

It must be worth watching, right? The Tuesday-night show is based on a series of books by Sara Shepard. It centers on a group of four very popular high school girls in the wealthy white town of Rosewood. A year later, the four remaining girls rekindle their friendship when they begin receiving mysterious texts and emails threatening to make public their deepest secrets from, it seems, their missing friend. Except her body has just been found.
Are ugly girls equipped to handle ugly secrets, or are they equally untrustworthy, or are they so invisible nobody at ABC Family knows? For this show, the price of a misdemeanor is the loss of consent and autonomy. He had an affair. Emily is questioning her sexuality. We are led to believe that Emily is either a lesbian or simply confused; the show does not as of yet give space to a narrative of bisexuality.
Bad girls should be punished. Ali, the ultimate bad girl, the Queen Bee of the school and of her clique, is dead—the ultimate punishment.

Sonia There was something about that whole worm coming out of the foot thing that made me feel really strange. Totally squeamish and then really tense! Two other recent releases that also kept my attention and took away from my 8 hours of necessary sleep per night:

See the end of the chapter for more notes. Meanwhile, Aria and Hanna approach the three girls standing by the drink table, eventually getting together in what looks to be a small circle so they can talk about whatever. Instead, she continues to search through the various, adult-looking options, noting how many skimpy outfits seem to adorn the racks nowadays. She stops at a few, smirking when her imagination starts to roam, and then her hands begin brushing through the costumes once more.
Additionally, her makeup is extremely dark, causing her eyes to look fairly lighter than usual while her cheekbones appear even more prominent. The speakers begin to blast a loud, techno version of some mainstream song, and Hanna whines at the choice. Spencer looks at Alison and Emily, eventually sighing and following both Aria and Hanna as she weaves through crowds of young students.
Emily looks at Alison, her brown eyes looking similar to a hazel tint as a bright, flickering light occasionally lands on them. The brunette bites her bottom lip and continues to look at the decorations, noting the various cotton spiderwebs, orange lighting, fake pumpkins, leaves, and banners. Is that not enough? Before Emily can capitalize, the classroom door opens, revealing a barely-even-stunned Hanna Marin with her hands on her hips.

Ho-hoo, my lucky day The idea is that if a woman having sex is arousing, then two women having sex is twice as arousing. Plus, there aren’t any male rivals in the way. Since young men are key demographics for networks and advertisers, and because Most Writers Are Male , lesbian fanservice aimed at the former flourishes. The trope also holds a lot of attraction for trans women who are attracted to women. If this goes too far, it can lead to less welcome tropes such as Double Standard: Rape, Female on Female.
For fanservice that doesn’t involve a voyeur, see Les Yay. For those who are interested in the romantic and emotional aspects of lesbian relationships, see Yuri Fan. It made a comeback with this Corona commercial. This gum commercial from Japan where girls are passing gum to each other via mouth. Chapter Text High heels click along the gross, Rosewood High, tiled, hallway floor. Hanna looks down and grimaces, not missing this building one bit. Kids pass her left and right, some laughing loudly while others hug their books close to their chest as they practically run through the front doors. What brought her here is none other than Emily Fields.
When Hanna found out that Emily successfully earned the job as head swim coach, she was super excited for the brunette; frankly, Emily deserves this job. Hanna stops at the classroom door and continues to look into the space, noting the various English literature excerpts strewn across the walls on posters. She grunts and continues walking through the now-empty hallway, her thoughts swirling around as she tries to mentally connect the dots of how Emily and Alison have been acting.
Alison and Emily have always been close, and the girls are aware that, at one time, it was much more than platonic, but recently? Hanna shakes her head at the thought; just silly high school rumors making her imagination run wild.
Pretty Little Liars (book series)
The actors on high school shows age out of looking like teenagers in large part because they were probably in their 20s when they were first cast to play tenth graders , and audiences have limited patience when it comes to solving mysteries. Queer women have always graded TV on a curve. We know, for example, that lesbian and bisexual characters are not going to enjoy the same kind of physical intimacy as the straight characters on the same show. All of those things have been true on Pretty Little Liars.
I can count them off for you like the birth stories of my own children. The night Maya made Emily an imaginary underwater paradise to comfort her after she was kicked off the swim team.
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard SPHERE Alison, Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna bonded last year when their parents volunteered them to work Saturday afternoons hook up with her hot friends – meaning, essentially, that you. were as lame and unattractive as she was. In Ali’s version.

She is portrayed by Shay Mitchell. Contents [ show ] Biography. Emily Fields is the ‘jock’ of the group because of her aptitude in swimming, which makes her the star of Rosewood ‘s swim team. Out of the girls, Emily would be described as caring, sweet and loyal. Emily cares so much about her friends that she does anything she can to keep them safe.
In the midst of solving a murder case, Pretty Little Liars dropped another bombshell on Rosewood: Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) health problems are self-inflicted. During Tuesday’s episode, “The.
Uber-A returned after what was likely a very long nap, Ezria had sex with a shirtless Lucy Hale! But the main thing on every Liar’s mind the morning after “Miss Me x ” was the steamy, long-awaited, and yet somehow unexpected — and very well done — hookup between Emily and Alison. One of the best parts of the whole thing, besides the increasingly honest portrayal of an LGBT character with real thoughts and feelings on a family show we’ll choose to ignore the fact that every gorgeous lesbian in Eastern Pennsylvania is a world-class swimmer, because come on is how it should completely affect the power dynamics — within the Liar group — on the show moving forward.
I was a bit disappointed when Alison first came back, because her lie to the police about being kidnapped and the girls going along with it made it seem as if everything was going to stay dishonestly status-quo in Liar-land, but man, did last night change that. First, as much as I believe that Alison truly does love Emily, as Mona brilliantly said, “when people tell me who they are, I believe them. But Alison is a person who uses people, plain and simple. Underneath those real feelings of desire there is also a very strategic woman who uses everyone else around her for her own benefit just look at how she treated those rando members of the “army of losers” , and despite Emily’s frustrated attitude towards Ali at the end of the episode, Ali has to be fully aware of the fact that starting up a romantic relationship with gentle Emily will land the Liar fully in her corner.
Which she really, really needs. ABC Family Which brings me to my second point — bringing Alison back as a real live human being has been a breath of fresh air for the show, since watching her coyly deliver mysterious lines in flashbacks got old after four seasons, as did the relative stasis within the dynamics of the group. The best thing about her return is the complicated nature of all of her relationships, and her firm hold over Emily — and all of the seriously juicy emotional fallout that tends to occur when they pair up — definitely has the potential to change the “Liars” universe as we know it.
The show has always been about the same four girls banding together and protecting the damaging secrets caused by this one tornado of a human being, and bringing this tornado back is exactly what we needed to switch things up during this fifth season. Because, come on, the rest of the girls are eventually going to get tired of their entire universe revolving around Alison.
Hanna’s already there, Aria is dealing with her own problems, and Spencer just wants to move on and have a fun senior year without her father and Melissa, of course.
